Dan Nolan Named as Head Football Coach at Lyndon Institute
January 27th, 2020
Lyndon Institute Director of Athletics and Activities Eric Berry has announced the hiring of Dan Nolan, LI Class of ‘95, as their head football coach.
“We are happy to welcome Dan back to the Lyndon Institute family,” Berry said. “His previous tenure as head coach at LI was highly successful, positively influencing our student-athletes on and off the field, and his background working at one of the highest levels of high school football in the country is extremely impressive. His football acumen, demonstrated values, and forward-thinking vision will fit well with our athletic program. He reflects the mission of LI’s Core Values--respect for self, others, and Lyndon Institute, and responsibility, to become accomplished learners, creative thinkers, and compassionate community members,” Berry added.
“I am pleased to welcome Dan Nolan back to LI as our head football coach. He brings a wealth of knowledge regarding the game and coaching students. I am looking forward to seeing our football team in action next fall,” said Lyndon Institute Head of School Twiladawn Perry.
A press conference introducing Coach Nolan to the community and players at a date to be determined will be live-streamed by the Northeast Sports Network (www.nsnsports.net).
Prior to his return to LI, Dan was the running backs and strength and conditioning coach at Robert E. Lee High School in Midland, Texas, home of one of the high schools featured in the film Friday Night Lights. He has seventeen years of service on the field, with seven years as a head coach and ten years as an assistant. He is co-author of The Mental Game of Football with the nationally-known motivational speaker Brian Cain.
“As an alumnus of LI, I could not be happier to be returning home and to have the opportunity to rebuild the football program,” said Nolan. “I would like to thank everyone who passed along words of support and consideration during this process. We will build a team you can be proud of.”
