LI Hosts National Art Honor Society Induction

Lyndon Institute National Art Honor Society (NAHS) inductees and members gather at the John L. Norris Center for the Arts during the 2019 NAHS induction ceremony.

On Thursday, April 25th Lyndon Institute (LI) proudly welcomed students, families, and community members to the John L. Norris Center for the Arts to induct 13 student members into the National Art Honor Society (NAHS).  The Society welcomed fashion and textile artist Julieann Krawczyk as the guest speaker.

Students in the National Art Honor Society demonstrate outstanding artistic scholarship and service to the school and community through the development of artistic endeavors, together with a strong moral character. By exemplifying these standards, the individual student members of the society promote an awareness of art and become active participants in the education process at their school and in their community.  Additionally, students are required to participate in community service and volunteerism in the visual arts, enroll in a fine arts class, and attend NAHS meetings and activities regularly.  The students who demonstrated the qualities associated with the NAHS criteria inducted this year include:

“At Lyndon Institute we are so fortunate to have such an outstanding facility where we house a Macintosh computer lab to teach state-of-the-art graphic arts courses, alongside incredible studio classrooms that accommodate a wide range of visual arts courses,” said LI Visual Art Teacher Cynthia Helmbreck.  “It is here, at the Norris Center for the Arts, where faculty members are lucky enough to teach enthusiastic and dedicated students who never cease to amaze us with their creativity and passion for the arts.  The young group of students who were inducted this school year are truly compassionate about their artistic pursuits, which was part of the driving force behind some of the international community outreach projects they accomplished.  As a teacher, it’s always exciting to be a part of our student’s accomplishments and experience the joys of their learning.”
