Biography

Mrs. Atkins is on a mission to bring a real-world environment to her classroom and hopes to aid each student in their best academic success. She has a diverse background in graphic design, public relations, promotions, and marketing, with experiences in nonprofit and for-profit sectors in various industries, including food and beverage, healthcare, manufacturing, retail, advertising, and public relations and education. Before becoming a teacher, she held the position of Principle for her graphic design and public relations firm and continues to work on a freelance basis.

Mrs. Atkins joined Lyndon Institute in 2014 as a graphic arts teacher. She holds a BA from Lyndon State College and a BS from Niagara University, along with over 28 years of industry experience. While teaching full time, she received her Teaching Certification from Vermont Technical College with accruement of hours towards her Masters in Fine Arts. Mrs. Atkins received her Online Teacher Certification from the Northeast Online Teaching Institute and is certified in the State of Vermont. She is an Adobe Certified Professional in Visual Design, receiving her certifications in Adobe Photoshop CC, InDesign CC, and Illustrator CC through Certiport at the Certified Educator Conference. Mrs. Atkins strives to teach rigorously and passionately to each student she encounters by aiming to reach a diverse population of students in rural northeast Vermont.

Mrs. Atkins resides in St. Johnsbury, Vermont, with her spouse, three children, and their family dog. She enjoys spending time with her family and friends, walking, reading, and enjoying the beautiful outdoors of Vermont.
