On Saturday, October 27th, Erica Schroder came to the Lyndon Institute campus to set choreography with the LI Dance Company. Erica is a Boston-based choreographer, performer, and teacher. She has performed in the Boston Contemporary Dance Festival, Shared Choreographers Concert, Third Life Series, Parallel Lines and all over New England with various companies including Urbanity Dance Company Four and Forty Steps.
Before moving to the Boston area, Erica owned Stardancer Studios in Newport, NH where her students received numerous high score awards, special judges awards and titles. Schroder received five awards for Best Choreography and her studio received the Overall Studio Excellence Award from Omega Dance Challenge. In addition to teaching in private studios, Erica served as Adjunct Professor of Dance at Colby-Sawyer College. She has been a guest performer and teacher at the Vermont State Dance Festival held at LI annually in November and for the Vermont Alliance for Arts Education.
Schroder has a BFA in Dance with Teaching Certification from the University of Michigan and a Master of Arts Management degree from Carnegie Mellon University. She is the Director/Resident choreographer for the Dance Companies at J & D Dance Academy of Reading where her students recently received the highest score of the day at the Dance to Inspire competition. Erica is proud to be a member of Dance Masters of New England Chapter 5 and Dance Masters of America and also volunteers with the non-profit organization, Dancers at Heart. Erica continues to train, taking classes at Boston Ballet and through the Dance Life Retreat.
