Lyndon Institute Hires Mike Lowe as New Bike Tech Instructor

Lyndon Institute is announcing Mr. Mike Lowe as the instructor for its newest program, Project Bike Tech. This new offering is a two-year program housed under Career and Technical Education at LI and utilizes mountain bicycle technology, trail construction and maintenance, and adventure tourism education as a channel for teaching core academics.

Previously Lowe worked at Gould Academy as a History and Economics teacher from the fall of 2017 through this past June and held the role as the Dean of Community Life. Prior to that, he served the Department of Defense in the United States Navy for 20 years, working his way through the ranks up to CDR and serving his final tour as the Deputy Defense Intelligence Liaison Officer in Ottawa, Canada. Lowe earned his Bachelor of Science in Economics from the United States Naval Academy and his master's degree in National Security Strategy from the Naval War College.

"Bike Tech at Lyndon Institute is an innovative, creative pathway to one of our region's most exciting assets. We are thrilled to have found an instructor whose energy, enthusiasm, and abilities will help our students earn success in school, life, and the Northeast Kingdom" said Dr. Jason Di Giulio, Director of CTE.

Lowe is a Category 1 Mountain Biker/Gravel Racer and has achieved numerous Single Speed wins at national level events. He has a love for this sport and is excited to build the Lyndon Institute Bike Tech program.

Lowe is a resident of Lyndonville, VT where he lives with his wife Rebecca Lowe, a new math teacher at LI. Rebecca and Mike have two dogs and two cats and love everything the great outdoors has to offer.

Aside from Mr. Lowe's love for mountain biking and gravel racing, he and his family enjoy hiking, Nordic skiing, and skijoring with their dogs. “It’s an honor to take on this role for LI and the community,” said Lowe.
