If one looks around their environment, they will see designs, from this web page to a cereal box in the grocery store, to a road sign seen while driving, and to a hotel room used on vacation. To be successful as a graphic designer, students need a specific set of skills and design techniques and organization and problem-solving skills. Each year as a graphic design student, they will build upon their knowledge base. The field of graphic design is continuously evolving and growing. As a designer, it is vital to adapt and adjust to today’s environment. This program will learn foundational skills and industry standards-setting them for success in this dynamic career field.
In addition to the knowledge and skills, students will gain, they will also have the opportunity to receive college credit through an articulation agreement with Northern Vermont University, as well as Adobe Certification for Graphic Design 4.
Digital Photography is an artist’s representation of a visual story. As part of the Lyndon Learning Collaborative program, students in this course will learn how to use a Digital Single Lens Reflex (DSLR ) digital photography camera to photograph their own visual story. They will then use the leading industry-standard graphic design and photography programs of Adobe Photoshop and Adobe Lightroom to edit their photography.
Websites sell things, promote people or businesses, provide information, connect people and store content. Each site will have challenges and problems to make the site function in the best way possible. Websites are not only to be aesthetically pleasing but a venue to communicate to a broader audience. Students in this class will learn how a website performs and design a website using various web tools. Students will have the opportunity to create their website. Lastly, careers in website development are explored. This course complements what you will learn in Graphic Design and Digital Photography while serving as an introductory foundation for tremendous success in this dynamic field.

With dual enrollment, articulation partnerships, and flexible pathway learning, the Graphic Design program at Lyndon Institute will prepare students for today, tomorrow, and the future.
