  • Associate Director of Admissions

    Job Summary:     
    The Associate Director of Admissions creates, manages, and directs the admissions process for families interested in applying to Lyndon Institute. They counsel prospective students and their caregivers through all aspects of the admissions process from inquiry to enrollment. 

    An Associate Director of Admissions is responsible for the management and execution of all admissions related initiatives and will work closely with the VP for External Relations and Advancement to implement and execute a comprehensive and effective admission plan that supports the strategic priorities and mission of the school.

    Duties, Responsibilities and Specific Requirements:
    • Manages all aspects of guidance and follow-up to families through every step of the admissions process from inquiry to enrollment
    • Assists in the development of strategic goals, associated policies, and actions to achieve target enrollment
    • Builds strong working relationships with all constituencies: families, faculty and staff, administrators, and colleagues at regional middle schools
    • Collaborates with colleagues in Finance to ensure alignment with budgets and strategies.
    • Analyzes data and enrollment trends to identify markets
    • Plans and organizes all admissions events for prospective students and families
    • Manages the daily operations of the Admission Office, including budget, database, files, correspondence, and mailings.
    • Works closely with the Marketing team to support the creation, design, planning, and implementation of marketing strategies for Admissions
    • Cultivates and maintains communications (through various means) with prospective boarding and day students and their families
    • Represents Lyndon Institute in a variety of venues, including but not limited to campus tours, open house events, school presentations, school fairs and conferences
    • Travels locally, regionally, nationally and internationally to recruit students and work with educational consultants
    • Interviews and evaluates applicants
    • Develops and maintains Admissions operation systems as needed, including office database, Admissions website page, and online listings
    • Serves as DSO for LI in SEVIS and maintains working knowledge of immigration issues
    • Some night-time and weekend work

  • Work-based Learning Coordinator

    POSITION TITLE:    Work-based Learning Coordinator

    SUPERVISORS:      Director, Career and Technical Education

    Description: 
    Work-based learning provides students experiences in work environments that expose them to the postsecondary job opportunities in our local region. Through these experiences, students will build both industry standards skills and experiences as well as the skills needed to be a productive employee while still being supported through Lyndon Institute.  Finally, these opportunities particularly help students make the connection between academic principles and real world applications. 

    General Responsibilities:
    The Work Based Learning (WBL) Coordinator is responsible for the development, coordination, implementation, and evaluation of a range of work-based learning experiences that take place outside of the school. Additionally, the Coordinator will support students and employers in planning and implementing safe, effective, and authentic learning experiences as identified in the seven standards for work-based learning. It is crucial that WBL opportunities are continuously updated based on stakeholder evaluation data, current and emerging professions, and economic trends as identified by the Regional and Local Advisory Boards.

    A Work-based Learning Coordinator will:
    • Establish work-based learning experiences that reinforce students’ personal, academic, and career goals
    • Inform students, guardians, and educators about work-based learning experiences available to students
    • Provide, in collaboration with College and Career Counselors, career resources and postsecondary planning materials to students  
    • Research and attend training opportunities to gather information about successful work-based learning programs  
    • Research potential employers through personal networks, professional organizations, and local and state agencies and contribute to a shared database of WBL opportunities
    • Collaborate with content area educators, when applicable, to ensure students are meeting content-based proficiencies when students are in long term WBL experiences
    • Network with other WBL Coordinators and Vermont Agency of Education resources to share promising practices and improve strategies to resolve challenges  
    • Ensure compliance with the established Lyndon Institute Work-Based Learning agreement document developed with the guidance of the Work-Based Learning Manual provided by the Vermont Agency of Education  
    • Disseminate program information to all stakeholders as needed
    • May have the potential for teaching assignment
    Experience:
    • Minimum of three years of experience in education, business/nonprofit operations, career services.
    • Experience as a teacher, counselor or school administrator in middle or high school (preferred)
    • Experience related to local and/or state graduation proficiencies, proficiency-based assessment, proficiency-based portfolio development, using data to inform decision making; and other best practices in education
    • Working knowledge of career readiness and preparation, including the development of flexible personal learning plans as indicated by ACT 77  
    • A working knowledge of the Vermont Labor Laws

  • CDL School Bus Driver

    Lyndon Institute is seeking to hire a bus driver to work 20 hrs/wk driving a morning and afternoon route.  Additional hours are available!  Drivers receive paid holidays, snow days and PTO. A $500 sign-on bonus is being offered for this position.

    Job Summary:     
    Reporting to the Head of School and working collaboratively with various Department Heads, the Dean of Students (DOS) shares responsibility for ensuring a positive school culture that is consistent with the mission and values of Lyndon Institute.  The DOS participates in planning, goal setting, decision-making, policy formulation, staff supervision, and crisis management; shares responsibility for establishing, communicating, and implementing student discipline policies and behavioral expectations.

    Duties, Responsibilities and Specific Requirements:
    • Be a consistent, positive presence in the lives of LI students.
    • Actively promote a positive student culture of engagement through policy and personal interactions.
    • Develop and implement proactive strategies to support overall student wellbeing, consistent with the mission and values of LI.
    • Manage and implement student discipline and disciplinary procedures.
    • Communicate and partner with families in support of student discipline.
    • Maintains accurate records of student discipline and attendance.

  • Teacher - Driver's Education

    Lyndon Institute is seeking to hire a full time Driver's Education Teacher for the 2025/2026 school year. This position will report directly to the Director of Career and Technical Education and be responsible for:

    • Teaching classes on driver and road safety, vehicular operation rules and basic vehicle maintenance based on the requirements of the Agency of Education and Department of Motor Vehicles.
    • Provide classroom instruction and "hands on" driving instruction per regulations established by the Agency of Education and Department of Motor Vehicles.

    Responsibilities

    It is the responsibility of the teacher to:
    • Work in collaboration with teachers, parents/caregivers, students, and other professional and paraprofessional personnel, and be consistent with state and federal law
    • Coordinate and oversee the implementation of effective interventions for special education.
    • Focus on literacy, math and behavior support services designed to enable assigned students to meet Vermont’s learning expectations for students in the least restrictive environment.
    • Develops and evaluates Individual Education Programs (IEP), behavior plans, and specialized reading and math instruction, and provides comprehensive evaluation services with professional and technical assistance.
    • Case manages individual student programs and facilitates coordinated services for students with special learning needs and their families
    • Facilitate special education meetings and maintain special education records for assigned caseloads in a timely manner
    • Selects and implements interventions and accommodations appropriate to individual student needs and support students to access and benefit from the general education curriculum through specialized instruction and related services
    • Supervise and provide training to individual assistants
    • Support classroom teachers in accommodating students with special needs within the regular classroom by identifying, developing, or modifying instructional materials, curricula, or aspects of the classroom environment, and by modeling instructional methods and/or classroom management techniques
    Special Education Case Management & Supervision
    The Special Educator will:
    • Hold special education endorsement
    • Maintain knowledge of current state and federal laws, regulations, and procedures governing referral; identification/evaluation; eligibility determination; Individual Education Program (IEP) development, implementation, and monitoring; and placement of students with disabilities
    Hours and Attendance

    The teacher will:
    • work up to 180 student days (per published calendar) and up to an additional 6 professional development days (as determined by the Head of School) each year
    • arrive at the school no later than 7:45 a.m. and stay until 3:30 p.m. or beyond to ensure all duties are completed for the day, including being available daily for student help. (If all of a teacher’s job cannot be done within the classroom hours, one should expect to spend time outside the classroom planning and organizing curriculum.)  
    • in the case of an emergency or sudden illness, notify the Substitute Coordinator per the process outlined in the Employee Manual.
    • attend all faculty meetings throughout the year (these may begin before 7:45 a.m. or end after 3:30 p.m.)
    • participate in special education teams, IEP and/or 504 meetings to meet the needs of the students
    • attend all required school events
    • use instructional time effectively, focusing full attention on the students
    • be available to students and parents after hours, as needed (and within reasonable personal limitations)

    Requirements

    • Candidates must hold a Bachelor’s degree and a Vermont Teacher Special Education License.
    • ​​Possess working knowledge of Vermont Special Education Law and/or recent experience working in a Vermont school district is preferred.
    • Possess experience working in evaluation procedures in determining special education eligibility with an understanding of social/emotional functioning.
    • Demonstrates knowledge and understanding of assigned students including intellectual, social, and emotional characteristics of age group; students' varied approaches to learning; student skills and knowledge; student interests and cultural heritage; economic and cultural influences; student's family, school and community context.
    • The teacher must be in a state of health (emotionally and physically) that will allow her/him to properly care for students enrolled at Lyndon Institute.

    We are seeking a full-time visual arts teacher for the 2024 - 2025 school year.

    RESPONSIBILITIES:
    • Classroom management, curriculum development, plan lessons, record and grade student progress, and give students the necessary artistic tools to express themselves through various art skills, media, and techniques
    • Oversee basic, intermediate, and advanced art classes for grades 9-12
    • Participate in mentoring program
    • Shadow an advisory group in preparation for having own advisory in future teaching years

    Requirements

    Qualifications/Duties:
    • Recent successful coaching experience at the high school, college, or club level desired
    • Able to demonstrate an understanding of the fundamentals, rules, and regulations essential to building a successful program
    • Able to demonstrate an understanding of fitness and training for the sport
    • Able to work well with the coaching staff, administration, students, parents, and the community
    • Must submit and clear a Background Check
    • Must be a Vermont Principals Assoc. (VPA) certified coach and have completed all VPA-required certifications with NFHS (National Federation of State High School Associations) as well as CPR/AED certification
    • Coordinates activities with regard to practice, participation in all competitions and other events as assigned by the Athletic Director
    • Be available weekdays from 3:15 pm on (depending on practice and game times), and on weekends as needed
    • Be of sound mind and judgment and have an understanding that athletics is an extension of the classroom and that we are looking for great leaders to mentor our athletes in becoming great, successful individuals in society
    • Follow and uphold all LI policies and procedures and create a team atmosphere that is built around the history and culture of LI

  • Adult Education Coordinator

    Description

    Position Title: Adult Education Coordinator
    Position Classification: Staff; .5 FTE; 12-month
    Lyndon Institute is seeking a passionate and experienced Adult CTE Education Coordinator to lead and develop cutting-edge programs for adult learners in the Northeast Kingdom. Our adult learning program capitalizes on our technical center resources, including welding, manufacturing, automotive repair and allied health facilities to craft adult learning opportunities aligned with industry trends, modern technology and labor market needs. This position is scheduled to work 12-months per year; 20 hours per week.
    Responsibilities:
    • Oversee the development, implementation, and evaluation of Adult CTE programs aligned with Vermont state standards, industry needs, and community priorities. 
    • Recruit instructors in collaboration with business and community partners to design and deliver relevant, high-quality programs that equip adults with the skills and knowledge for successful careers in high-demand fields.
    • Conduct outreach and recruitment activities to attract adult learners to CTE programs.
    • Develop and manage the Adult CTE budget, recognizing that program growth leads to additional financial resources. 
    • Advise and support adult learners in their academic and career planning.
    • Track student progress, analyze data, and report on program outcomes.
    • Perform other duties as assigned.
        

    Requirements

    Qualifications:
    • Bachelor's degree in education, workforce development, or related field with a minimum of five (5) years of experience in adult education, program development, or a related field. Masters Degree preferred. 
    • Should possess a valid Vermont teaching license with the "Assistant Director for Adult Education" endorsement (5440-20) or be eligible to obtain. Lyndon Institute will pay many of the licensing costs. 
    • Experience working specifically with Adult CTE programs or community learning initiatives is a strong benefit.
    • Demonstrated experience in curriculum development and implementation.
    • Strong understanding of adult learning styles and best practices.
    • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
    • Ability to work independently and collaboratively.

    Description

    Dorm Parent Responsibility 
    • Ensure the safety and well-being of all the residential students.
    • Create a homelike environment for all residents in my dorm.
    • Build character in students; teach and model the principles of the school
    • Interact consistently and frequently with all residential students and build healthy relationships.
    • Serve as a means of support when a student needs advice or guidance on personal or academic matters.
    • Use restorative practices in the daily interaction with students and staff.
