  • Adjunct Teacher - Ceramics

    POSITION TITLE: Adjunct Teacher - Ceramics

    CLASSIFICATION: Faculty; Salary Exempt

    SUPERVISOR: Dean of Academics & Fine/Performing Arts Dept. Chair

    Requirements:

    Qualified applicants should have experience teaching students with diverse learning styles and abilities, from beginners to advanced art learners, and possess substantial experience in both working with and teaching ceramics.
  • Varsity Assistant Coach – Football

    Job Summary
    The position is responsible for coaching student-athletes in game strategies and techniques to prepare them for athletic competition. Position motivates student-athletes to develop an appreciation of the sport and centers on creating positive relationships with student-athletes.  This position will report to the Head Coach and Athletic Director.

    Qualifications/Duties:
    • Able to demonstrate and communicate an understanding of the fundamentals, rules, and regulations essential to building a successful football program.
    • Able to demonstrate an understanding of fitness and training for the sport.
    • Able to work well and build positive relationships with the coaching staff, administration, students, parents, and the community.
    • Be available weekdays from 3:15 pm on and on weekends as needed (depending on practice and game times).
    • Possess sound judgment and a clear understanding that athletics is an extension of the classroom. We seek strong leaders who will mentor our athletes, helping them grow into successful and responsible individuals in society.
    • Follow and uphold all LI policies and procedures and create a team atmosphere that is built around the history and culture of LI.

    Required Skills
    • Must be, or become before the start of the season, a Vermont Principals Assoc. (VPA) certified coach and have completed all VPA-required certifications with NFHS (National Federation of State High School Associations) as well as CPR/AED certification

    Desired Skills
    • Recent successful coaching experience at the high school, college, or club level

  • Teacher - Driver's Education

    TITLE: Teacher - Driver's Education
    CLASSIFICATION: Faculty; 10-month position; September through August
    SUPERVISOR: Director of CTE/Academic Dean

    Lyndon Institute is a comprehensive, independent high school providing thoughtful and rigorous preparation for students of the Northeast Kingdom of Vermont and beyond to reach their intellectual, creative, and physical potential.

    Job Summary:     
    Reporting to the Director of CTE and the Academic Dean and working collaboratively with faculty and staff, the Driver’s Education Instructor is responsible for teaching students the necessary skills and knowledge to become safe and responsible drivers. This role involves both classroom instruction and behind-the-wheel training. 
    Duties, Responsibilities and Specific Requirements:
    • Classroom Instruction:
      • Teach students about road safety, traffic laws, and defensive driving techniques.
      • Provide clear explanations of the rules of the road, signs, signals, and markings.
      • Educate students about the mechanics of driving, including vehicle operation and maintenance basics.
      • Prepare and deliver lessons based on the state’s curriculum and regulations.
    • Behind-the-Wheel Training:
      • Supervise students during in-car driving lessons, ensuring safety and proper driving techniques.
      • Offer constructive feedback and guidance to students on handling a vehicle, making turns, parallel parking, merging, and other driving skills.
      • Monitor students’ progress, assess their abilities, and provide tailored instructions to help improve driving performance.
    • Assessment and Evaluation:
      • Administer written and practical exams to assess student knowledge and driving ability.
      • Provide progress reports to students and their parents or guardians, if applicable.
      • Track attendance and performance data.
    • Safety and Compliance:
      • Ensure all driving sessions are conducted in a safe, controlled environment, following traffic laws, school policies, and state regulations.
      • Maintain a safe and clean vehicle and classroom.
      • Manage any emergency situations or accidents according to the school or program's safety protocols.
    • Communication:
      • Establish and maintain open communication with students and their families, addressing any questions or concerns.
      • Maintain records of student progress, attendance, and any disciplinary issues.
    Skills and Qualifications:
    • Education & Certification:
      • High school diploma or equivalent
      • Valid state driver's license with a clean driving record.
      • Certification or license to teach driver’s education in the state of Vermont.
    • Experience:
      • Previous experience in teaching or driving instruction is preferred but not always required.
      • Familiarity with state laws regarding driver’s education and traffic regulations.
    • Skills:
      • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
      • Ability to remain calm and patient in stressful situations.
      • Organizational skills to track student progress and attendance.
      • Ability to teach students of varying skill levels, from beginners to more experienced drivers.
      • Knowledge of defensive driving techniques and safe driving practices.
    Working Conditions:
    • Hours may vary, with both daytime and evening shifts depending on the availability of students.
    • Instructors may be required to drive students in all weather conditions.
    • Physical stamina to sit for extended periods or remain active during behind-the-wheel sessions.
  • CDL School Bus Driver

    Lyndon Institute is seeking to hire a bus driver to work 20 hrs/wk driving a morning and afternoon route.  Additional hours are available!  Drivers receive paid holidays, snow days and PTO. A $500 sign-on bonus is being offered for this position.
  • Class D Driver

    Lyndon Institute is seeking to hire an individual to cover our Newport and/or Bradford routes.  Driver will work approximately 20 hrs/wk with additional hours available.  Drivers receive paid holidays, snow days and PTO.

    We are looking for individuals that enjoy working with adolescents, are well organized, have a calm demeanor, have familiarity with Microsoft Office and Google tools, have the ability to work independently, and have excellent interpersonal skills. We have increased our pay rates for half and full days!
