INTERNATIONAL STUDENT PROGRAM
At Lyndon Institute the English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) Program prepares students to be competent, confident communicators and consumers of the English Language. Students learn to perform in the skill areas of listening, speaking, reading, and writing – with equal value placed on each skill.
The ESOL program promotes the use of language for interpersonal and social interactions. Still, the program’s emphasis is placed on building Cognitive Academic Language Proficiency (CALP) to help students attain the level of English necessary to function successfully in their academics at Lyndon Institute and at the university level.
To accomplish this goal our ESOL program is comprehensive, involving courses at four levels (beginning, high beginning, intermediate and advanced) to allow the students to develop the skills necessary for success in mainstream courses.
