Lyndon Institute's baseball program first started in 1979. We offer two levels of baseball; we have a varsity and a junior varsity program. With two teams, we are able to allow about 95% of the students who try out for baseball to make one of our two teams.
We have made four State finals appearances, twice winning the Division II State Championship. We have also won four Capitol League titles.
Lyndon Institute is a great fit for student-athletes because we are small enough to allow most students to participate, but we are large enough to provide the quality competition that many athletes desire. We have had many baseball players graduate from Lyndon Institute and go on to play college baseball in Division I, II, and III programs. In 2011, we were very excited to have one of our 2009 graduates get drafted by the Houston Astros.
LI's varsity baseball coach is Jeremy Wheeler. Wheeler was an all-state pitcher/shortstop in high school and played college baseball at Norwich University. He has been a member of our coaching staff for over 15 years and had served as the JV baseball coach for 4 years and varsity assistant coach for 3 years before taking over as the varsity head coach in 2015.
