LI Students Obtain Grant to Help Reduce and Reuse Water Bottles
May 23rd, 2019
Water bottle filling stations offer a sensible, sustainable, and healthy way to drink more water. Filling stations for water bottles help to reduce the use of plastic water bottles, thereby keeping them out of landfills. Not only can these stations save the environment, but they also help save money.
Two members of Lyndon Institute’s senior class applied for and have been awarded a grant to help reduce and reuse water bottles. Evan Bollman and Jack Steen helped the school to receive a Vermont Community Action Team grant through the Ben & Jerry’s Foundation worth $1,500 to obtain a refrigerated bottle refilling station. The grant also includes funds for installation.
The filling station is located outside the Alumni Auditorium, and there is a matching fundraising campaign currently taking place to help purchase a second filling station on campus.
“We are so proud of Jack and Evan as they are leaving their school better than which they found it and are setting a fantastic example for the underclassmen to follow,” said Melissa Hall, Development Director for Lyndon Institute.
